Trimesters 2 & 3

In my last post, I talked about the struggles and changes I experienced during the first trimester of my pregnancy. For this post, I’m going to deal with the second and third trimesters. I’m choosing to lump these two together because, well….not much changed for me (except my belly getting bigger of course).

So…second trimester. For me this was a breeze. I was finally over the nausea and morning sickness of the first trimester, I regained my energy and it became clear to everyone that I was pregnant (this allowed me to skip long lines and receive that super special pregnant treatment). The second trimester did have one downfall. I HAD TO PEE EVERY 5 MINUTES!!

Now to describe the third trimester; the home stretch. It felt like FOREVER! By the time I was mid way through my third trimester, I wanted to be done with being pregnant. It was extremely difficult to sleep because of my gigantic belly. I still had to pee every 5 minutes. Also, because of that gigantic belly, everyone had a comment (“Oh My Gosh, You’re so big” “Are you having twins?” “Any day now huh?” “How many weeks now?”) When you find yourself answering the same questions or hearing the same comments everyday, you kinda wanna pull your hair out after a while.

OK, OK, OK, compared to some stories I’ve heard, my 2nd and 3rd trimesters were not bad at all. So I’ll end this post with some common things to expect and some tips.

Common things to expect:

  • Larger breasts. Your breasts might keep growing, thanks to additional fat accumulating and in preparation for producing milk. …
  • Braxton Hicks contractions. …
  • Skin changes and/or Stretch marks. …
  • Nasal and gum problems. …
  • Dizziness. …
  • Leg cramps

Tips:

  • Remain active. Try keeping up with regular, low impact activities such as walking and swimming. …
  • Maintain a healthy diet. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. Orange juice and milk are also good for you during this time…
  • Take prenatal vitamins daily. …
  • Drink lots of water. …
  • Breast stimulation….
  • Sex. Sex can help with having a smoother, easier time during labor and delivery.  You also want to orgasm. I guess you can combine this bullet point with the previous (wink). Your welcome husbands/partners!
