I’m having a baby….??

So one day I was nagging my husband about getting me some food, he jokingly replied “You’re eating a lot lately, I think you may be pregnant, you should take a pregnancy test”. My period was in fact a few days late and so I took a pregnancy test and sure enough it was positive. Wow!

Fast forward to 3 days later, I wasn’t feeling well and my husband took me to the urgent care. The doctor, after hearing my symptoms, tested my urine to see if I was pregnant. But according to him, my urine sample tested negative for pregnancy. What!??? How!???

Now we were super confused….Why did the test at home tell me that I was pregnant? We bought another test and tested again. Again it was positive. More confusion! Why did their test come back negative, shouldn’t the doctor’s test be more sensitive or more high-tech than the home pregnancy tests? false-positive-pregnancy-test-1024x680

It turns out that the doctor’s urine test is actually less sensitive than the HPT’s and you are actually more likely to get a positive at home earlier than you could at a doctor’s office. Weird Right?

Made an appointment with my OBGYN immediately and she gave me a sonogram that put my worries at ease. We Are Pregnant With Our First Baby! Yeah!
